started on drawing the rest of my homestuck oc's in pesterquest style for their
toyhouse pages. lucero's isn't done yet, but hey maybe you're reading this

this was meant to be yesterday's shittyjakeenglish but i'm allergic
to finishing an artwork in one day. it was hard to pick a favourite panel
to redraw, jake has so many pretty panels!

and music. honestly, i really hated this piece til i started messing with
the colours haha. now i'm very pleased with it!

Postcanon Jake English sitting slumped at a table, his head in his hand. One eye is visible, the other half of his face is in shadows. He looks very distressed. Behind him, Brain Ghost Dirk rests his head on Jake's shoulder. He hugs him with one hand, but in the other he holds a sword near Jake's throat. His design is significantly changed from canon: his throat is cut and bleeding white; he fades into white flames at the back; and, rather than his normal colours, he is just white lineart and a dark checkered pattern like a png. The background is bright red.

the last weekday of dirkjake week 2024, and the theme was postcanon/epilogues.
ohhh this was a joy. this was JOY! i may survive on dirk strider's suffering, but
i THRIVE on jake english's suffering!!

i love drawing brain ghost dirk looking fucked up as jake is going through
mental anguish. i know bgd is a dirk splinter just brought to existence by
jake's hope powers, but i much prefer to see him as Mostly jake. because
then i can have jake create a fucked up version of his ex husband to fuel his
self-destruction!!! yessss.

today's dirkjake theme is retro/decades, the decade i chose being the 50s. it's
because watched a streetcar named desire (1951) today (which i have THOUGHTS ON
by the way, but mainly i have thoughts about THE HAYES CODE.)

in looking for a reference image (here's one one i used btw) i ended up going
on a bit of a research rabbit hole about marlon brando. please ask me about
marlon brando.

absolute joy to work with them and i'm so happy with how this turned out! :D

Two MS Paint doodles of Dirk Strider and Jake English. The left doodle shows: Jake dressed as Artemy Burakh from Pathologic (a green tunic and trousers with brown leather shoulder pads, boots, and buckles.) He carries a lotta human organs in his arms and is being chased by an angry mob. Dirk, who is dressed as Daniil Dankovsky (a long black trenchcoat over a black suit, with a red cravat and jacket) looks at him sternly and says 'Have you considered being as smart as me? Medicum morbo adhibere bro.' The right doodle shows: Dirk dressed as a Pathologic tragedian (a skintight black stage costume with a white mask - black save for a tiny mouth-hole and Dirk's glasses) and Jake as an executor (a huge heavy cloak and a bird mask made of bone). Dirk is doing jazz hands, Jake is also grooving, and they're in a spotlight. They are labelled 'pov: you're just trying to watch the nightly prophetic play rehearsal but it's just these buffoons.'

dirkjake day 2, video games and godtiers (but i just did video games.) it was
between pathologic and disco elysium, and pathologic won because i wanted to
draw jake english holding many many human organs.

and thus dirkjake week 2024 BEGINS! the prompt today was cowboys/robots, though
i elected to just go with cowboys. most of the time spent on this was trying
to figure out how the hell to draw a horse, before giving up.
